Features of Undergraduate Program
The undergraduate program provides professional training in gerontological and geriatric care as well as the five-track of specially designed courses, including “nutrition and health”, “dementia care”, “palliative and cancer care”, “care service management”, and “technology and aids”. This curriculum aims to build students’ professional knowledge as well as humanistic values. Through solid training and progressive internship, our students will become outstanding professionals in the field of “health care”, “health promotion”, and “health management”. They will be well-prepared to provide health promotion, health protection, early screening and intervention, disability limitation and rehabilitation care services to the elderly and successfully manage various healthcare situations. The curriculum is designed in line with Taiwan’s national policy of “aging with vitality and aging in place”. We anticipate our graduates become important human assets in the gerontological healthcare industry in Taiwan and worldwide.

Graduation Requirements
Students will have a graduation certificate and certificates for 5 modules upon graduation.
1. The recommended elective credits in each semester are not mandatory, but the total number of required elective credits should be completed before graduation.(For details, please refer to the List of Courses for each academic year above↑)
2. The credits for general education in each semester differ according to students’ English grades. Nevertheless, the number of total credits remain unchanged. The table shows the general situation. (For details, please refer to the Announcement of Academic Affairs Office)
3. The Department of Gerontological Health Care’s four-year undergraduate program offers elective courses outside the Department (including cross-department and cross-domain courses and inter-school elective courses) with 6 credits as the upper limit.
4. Since the 2017 academic year, students of the four-year undergraduate program of the Department of Gerontological Health Care are required to complete cross-department and cross-domain courses of at least 4 credits.
5. Since the 2019 academic year, students are required to complete the “Home Service Supervisor module”.
6. Since the 2020 academic year, students are required to obtain a certificate of “Level C technician for caring service” and acquire 6 or more professional ability points to meet the graduation requirement.
