Features of the Graduate Program 

Cross-disciplinary collaboration has become an important focus in gerontological care because of the complexity of geriatric care issues. The goal of graduate program is to cultivate cross-domain talents with innovative gerontological/geriatric care and management skills. To fulfill this end, our graduate courses include

(1)professional basic required courses for cultivating research ability, (2) professional core courses for building advanced knowledge and skills, (3) required and elective courses for building knowledge and skills of geriatric care and prevention and cross-domain gerontological innovation and management, (4) professional

elective courses for building advanced healthcare and management knowledge and skills, and (5) master’s thesis. This curriculum design allows students to acquire basic research as well as advanced professional knowledge and students can choose various courses according to their professional background and learning

needs.

In addition, the graduate program offers two special tracks of courses, the “geriatric care and prevention” and “cross-domain gerontological innovation and management”. These two special tracks of courses are expected to advance students’ knowledge and skills in innovative smart care, expand their horizons ongerontological healthcare and management and enhance their ability of cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The required and elective courses for the two tracks include the advanced courses of “Theory and Practice of Gerontological Rehabilitation”, “Technology and Application of High-Intelligence Assistive Devices”, “Integrated Palliative Care”, “Integrated Dementia Care”, “Science, Technology, Humanities, and Aging Society”, “Health and Care Insurance System”, “Gerontological Industry Innovation Management”, and “Entrepreneurial Management of Gerontological Business”, which  aim to cultivate gerontological and geriatric care management professionals with advanced expertise.

Enrollment and Admission for Graduate Program

Our graduate program welcomes applicants with diverse professional backgrounds including health personnel with various medical backgrounds, gerontological health industry practitioners and business managers, in-service teachers of care service departments of vocational high schools, and graduates from relevant departments. We provide specially designed elective courses and internship for students coming from different professional backgrounds, with the former including multiple courses, such as “financial design for non-profit organizations”, “epidemiological methodology”, “quantitative research and statistical software application”, “qualitative research”, and “intelligent care and innovative design”, with the latter divided into domestic and foreign internship courses, such as “geriatric care and management practice” and “international healthcare practice”. These diversified professional elective courses are designed to meet the various needs of students with different backgrounds, expand their horizons on gerontological healthcare and enhance their competency and competitiveness in future career development.
